I don't know about that one... Put an MX5 on a skid pan going sideways at 60km/h and put a 4wd on a skid pan going 60km/h and see which one will look like it's going to roll first. I would say that the more common SUV would be more likely to be involved in a roll over accident than MX5s when going at "normal" speeds on public roads.
Of course this only applies to every day driving, as when you're on the track you're exceeding the speed limits set on public roads. Even then, it's quite difficult to get the car to roll.
