D-mag,
Thats great numbers. My car was making similar with the same turbo on 15psi.
MX5's are a lot of fun at those sort of power levels.

Must feel great to drive now. Do you have traction after boost kicks in??
How much difference did it feel from 128kw to 147kw? I just need that bit more power at p.i. to keep up with the big hp cars. I will see if ben can get a short video up on the forum to see what i mean. I don't know how to do it.

Thanks Jake, yeah the numbers are good, but as you'd know, they're only useful to see increases over the initial tune. And yes your right, these cars are sooooo much fun with a bit of go.
Traction isn't too bad Dave as long as your not 'on it' too early out of a corner. I've got some bigger/wider wheels on the way hopefully soonish, so new rubber will help.
The is a big difference Dave, huge in fact. Mostly mid to high RPM.

Time again for an update.
I've been preparing for a trackday with the MX5 Club of Vic to be run on the 1st of Feb.
The car has been running beautifully, so it was only a few small things that I need to do; Brakes and cooling.
I was still running the standard radiator that had started to dis-colour and crack. Solution?
A 52mm cooling pro radiator. It took about 2 hours to fit as there wasn't much room in the engine bay thanks to intercooler/intake pipes.
Also, a diversion plate and a 1.3 bar cap were also there to help keep temps in check.
Brakes were next.
Given the weight of the car, the standard NA8 brakes do a pretty good job. All they need is a subtle tweak to give the best results. I started with a better strut brace from Carbing (Thank you meanmx) as it comes with a Master Cylinder Stopper, but also, it has some of the sexiest welds I've ever seen. If you've seen Carbing products before, you'll know what I mean.
I also upgraded the pads to Endless Type R. They're an aggressive pad that is track orientated. Braided lines were put on along with some Motul RBF600 fluid. Last but not least I put a Willwood brake bias kit (thank you Sasso). I'll need some more track time to tune it properly though.
I took the crap Bosch plastic BOV off to replace it with a Turbosmart (thank you Bigdog) and noticed a bit of blow by so I fitted a catch can at the same time.
Track time:
HOT! One word to describe it. 45 degrees in the shade. It really was too hot to race, but we all soldiered on anyway. I got in one warm up lap and one hot lap before the heat got to both the car and me.
In the end I managed only 4 or 5 'hot' laps for a best of 1:48.1. I was a bit bummed, but given the heat and lack of track time, it was probably to be expected.
I finally got my Mazdaspeed rims shod with some rubber and fitted them. I was chasing some Toyo R1R's but couldn't get them so I settled on some Bridgestone RE001.
The rims are 15 x 7 rears and and 15 x 6.5 fronts with 205 50 15s. (They're a bit dirty )

I'm having a slow day at work so I thought I'd whore up an update.
Part 3
"The Diet'
Stage 1.
While this is a light car to begin with, it could always be lighter. Right?
You bet!
I had the weekend to myself a few weeks back, so I thought I'd spend a few days in the sun working on the car.
At the moment, it goes well enough, only some suspension mods still to come. To help the suspension, when it comes, I've decided to go on a diet (yes, both me and the car ). I'm starting by ripping all the carpet out of the car, next will be splash guards and then it'll be the air-con system.
It only took less then an hour to take the seats, center console, 'tombstone' and carpet out.
As you can see there was heaps of cleaning and prep work to do
The result was worthwhile though, this next pic was after the first coat of gloss enamel...
While the dash was off, I remembered I had bought new fascia for the air/fan panel a few months ago, so that went in too.
Annnd, the finished product...
I love it. It feels so ghetto, but sort of stylin' too. 'Ghetto chic' maybe?
Here's some 'shakey passenger camera' Motorkhana action from the Ozmazda.com DECA day...
Skid pans are SOOOOOO much fun!!!
May 09'
Lightweight mods continue...
Out with the old (heavy) electric mirrors, and in with the new absolutely gorgeous Carbon Fibre Craftsquare mirrors...
Original mirrors are 1.1kgs each, these babies are 230grams!
23/05/09
I headed back to the track on the weekend with EXE/Circuit club.
This time armed with Cusco coilovers and a set of R888's mounted on some Simmons V4's.
Winton, this time around, was much more kinder to the car as the top temp of the day was about 21 degrees.
This was the first 'real' shake-down of the car and I couldn't be happier with how it performed. I babied it around to start with but by session 2 I was thrashing the sh*t out of it. lol
I ended up with a 1:43. After watching the video, it's easy to see where a second or so can be made up....next time.
Ready to go out...
Late in the day (session 4 or 5 I think). Not my best runs of the day, but it was fun chasing down the S2K...

On the last video, was the smoke from excessive wheel spin or did the S2000 break something? It just seemed the driver of the S2000 slowed down a lot after the huge smoke.

He was either Batman or James Bond throwing a smokescreen in a feeble attempt to lose me through the hairpins. lol
Seriously, smoke was from the exhaust. It happened the lap before in exactly the same spot on the track (you can see it on the video).
I'm not sure exactly why it happened, apparently Honda's use a bit of oil at the track when being thrashed.

Us naturally asthmaticated drivers need to throw a little oil into the nebuliser to stay in front of your inflated engines.
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.
