One can use the diff at the rear, but what about for the front?

Jacks
Use the front cross-member or whatever it's called. It's next to the oil pan. And jack the front first otherwise the nose will get lower when you jack the rear and it gets hard to fit the jack under the car.

At the back I jack in the middle of the rear crossbrace, which is slightly in front of the diff.
For the fronts I jack just inside of the rear of the lower suspension wishbone

Supreme Blue NB8B, 1:16.98 at Wakefield when stock, but it's not stock any more...

I managed to detatch the relevant part of the scissor jack and put it on my hydraulic jack.
so i can use my hydraulic jack on the lip designed for the scissor jack withotu bending the rail

That might not be a bad idea if I can get a hold of a spare scissor jack and disassemble it. Although I wonder about the stability of the jacks when doing such a manouevre unless they're welded together or some such.
