New Hose Clamps for the SE

Postby Fuzzlet » Thu Nov 20, 2008 12:43 pm

One check that all the SE (and well anyone with a turbo) is your hose clamps. I had one decide to blow off on me yesterday (the oem clamp snapped...). So off to Auto One to buy a couple of hose clamps, since I thought it might be a good chance to upgrade a few others whilst I was at it

This was another hose that looked ready to blow off aswel:

Turns out it was no-where near:

One thing I did find interesting though, was how clean the inside of the pipes were (considering all the complaints Ive heard about the factory oil catch can not being up to the job):

The first thing I replaced were the factory clamps on the charge intake with T-bolt clamps. As far oil in the charge intake, mine appears as yours.

Agreed with Phil, the conventional worm drive clamps are crap! I've upgraded ALL clamps to T-bolt clamps now, set & forget!

Also watch your temp sensor near the throttle body, mine has almost blown out!

Yea I've had to fix up my temp probe a few times now...When I wind the boost up I'll invest in some decent clamps, but for now these will do the job (heck anything is better than the standard spring clips)

I'm using constant torque clamps on all of my FI hoses and the upper coolant hoses. These are the same clamps as used on the SP.

Not cheap at around $12-$15 each, but they are great. I bought my from an importer in Oakleigh, Melb.
