was just wondering how i can find out if my engine mounts are in good condition? any tips and tricks to find out?

i'm not too sure silvermiata..

some people on this forum have said that the only way they realised their engine mount was shagged was when they removed the engine out of the bay.

i think a simple test is when the engine cranks on a sharp angle when on the throttle. if it twists slightly, the mounts should still be fine (what jason from tt auto tells me). the last time i was in ur car, everything seemed fine :)

When mania checked mine they stuck a crow bar under the engine and lifted it slightly and the cracks in the rubber mounts were obvious.
Shiney black one with added red bits. Member of the fart club. Now with extra doof and Sunlong. - deceased and gone to heaven

silvermiata, you can remove the undertray, and get a trolley jack and steadily lift up the engine.

we can do a dodgy day this weekend if u like :lol: i need to do my tensioner cables so we can do them as well :P

Many years ago, when the engine mounts died on my first car (Mitsubishi Colt), the car would change lanes when you planted your foot on the throttle while cruising. The thundering 61kw donk would actually twist the chassis enough to adjust the direction of the car :shock:

I was a broke student at the time, so i just drove around it for a while. I'd just have to kink the steering left whenever i floored it.

So you can do the joy yourself without an engin hoist?
