Heavier or lighter than stock?

How much heavier? vs how much more power you get out of it?

it'd be lighter than stock

the muffler itself is about 1/3 smaller than oem.

mmx005 wrote:oongie, you could buy my 2nd had stainless smb exhaust if you want, its a 2.25in with hi flo cat mid pipe, resonator and rear muffler. would you want the xforce extractors to go with it??

Its all currently bolted to an nb8a.The hi flo cat was a slightly custom job done by mania but it is quality and works well with out being loud (unless you are flat to the floor). With the roof down on the freeway and no music you can only just hear the exhaust.NO DRONE WHAT SO EVER!!!!!!!!

oongie, i would LEAP on this opportunity if i were you.

I second that. Depending on price, that sounds like a a good system.

don't be put off that exhausts are second hand/dirty/soot.

it can be easily cleaned.

i don't know of too many cars, if not, any cars, with exhausts that have broken down (with the exception of my old man's '83 tarago). they're supposed to last a lifetime, right?

it's only the cat that would probably break down, cos of the honeycomb lattice thingy on the inside of it..

if you're ever around bankstown oongie, give me a bell oongie, i'll let you take mischa for a thrashing, she'll purr at low revs but roar when wot

baffles can come loose and rattle, something you might not be able to check when buying.
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

oongie, i would advise if you were getting the system off mmx005, do not get the headers. the headers are designed for nb8a, 5 speed gearboxes. you'll encounter fitment probs cos of your six speed g/box.

Sliq i am going to have to make u a little  and possibably  as i have fitted a 6 speed to my nb8a and i have NO ISSUES with the extractors or exhaust rubbing againt the box or anywhere else for that matter.

HOWEVER i will grant you that it is a tight squeeze, but what isnt a tight squeeze in ANY mx5???

hope im making sense :D

mmx005 sounds like an interesting offer to sell...
only drawback I have with buying a NB8A exhaust is that last time when I was about to buy MXHEVN's exhaust there was contention on the NB8A system fitting a NB8B?

Are there people in the know that could tell me otherwise? Or I might just ask Mania and ask their advice as well?

I was also looking at saving some more money and getting the full Autoexe system but with the $1k difference in price I could just get a set of Tomei poncams as well.. :o

There is no "full" autoexe exhaust system. It's just a header and muffler, no midpipe.

It will be maximworks/autoexe headers, depending on which header you get, 1 has the cat the other doesn't, you'll keep the stock midpipe, and you'll have an autoexe muffler [stainless or titanium].

This package will cost around $2K- $4K, depending on which header/exhaust combo you use.

importing the headers itself will cost a fortune, and don't forget, jdm stuff isn't exactly cheap.
you'll be looking at least $1,500 for the headers alone.

just get a hi flow cat and the catback.

by the sounds of it, it doesn't really sound like you are chasing every ounce of power from your car, so i wouldn't bother looking at headers.

All good and valid points.
Autoexe was on the cards but as I said save the money and get some poncams! LOL.

I heard your exhaust on youtube again sliq ... very noice...

Back to the question on hand... NB8A exhaust fit a NB8B?

To get the full potential out of poncams you'll need to use an ecu, and then from there you'll need to upgrade your intake, headers and exhaust, because they will be restricting the max power of the cams.

ECU is on the books only after the poncams and exhaust...
btw intake has already been done a while back...
Working backwards... theres no logic behind it...

End result this should make a really fun daily driver!

correct me if i'm wrong, but cat backs on nb8a's are the same for nb8b's.

the secondary collector pipes and and cat is different between the 2.
