King Spring lowering rate

Hey guys just wondering what kind of drops people have had with their king springs. I was looking at a 35mm drop. Am i dreaming?

I dont think my Kings were terribly much lower than my stock springs

You may want to be careful about getting a decent drop with standard shocks, they may not like being that 35mm lower

Yeah i think theyre due for a change anyway. I was thinking a set of second hand konis might fit my budget nicely, maybe round 4-500.

I dont know what the symptoms of worn shocks are, i know that one of them is if you compress the suspension the car should not bounce, and if it does they are worn. Even though mine does not bounce i still think they are gone as i get a really bumpy ride over any rough surface and its a real pain in the ass.

Could be tyre pressures being too high

No infact when i evened out my pressures i found that from the tyres it was a lot softer, but the shocks just seem to hard, almost like i have no shocks at all sometimes. Plus they have done close to 200 000 k's.

Well i had tyre pressure, i found the ride was a little bit bumpier, i put the pressure up to 40 all round just to see how it goes. Back is max 51psi front is max 42 psi. I dont really know what im doing but it is an improvement to what it was. It feels like the tyres arent letting me down just the shocks. I was actually thinking of buying those bilstein ones but then again i dont know much about them so im not sure. Well i dont know much about shocks in general, basically i want to lower my car 35mm, and use shocks the can handle that. But i noticed that they arent adjustable, does that matter with lowering?

I'm not entirely sure how well they'll take to lowered springs, but I'm pretty sure your car would be much nicer to drive with Bilsteins

Oh, and I forgot to ask, if you've tried 40psi, what do you normally run? My NA feels best at 32psi, best compromise between skipping over bumps and wanting to throw the back out all the time which it does with 34+psi and being too soft and rolly

Well apart from the uneven pressure on front, the backs were around 32-34. Which to me seems to soft, i like it a bit harder because it feels more rigid, but i think 40 may be a little too hard, at least on the front. Ill drop it to 36-38 maybe. Even all round im not sure.

And those shocks look great but i need to know if they will compliment lowering springs etc etc.

A factory shock is usuall only good for about 60,000klms!

Even aftermarket shocks you won't get more from them unless they have adjustment!
change the shocks, kings will drop the car by average of 30mm front and 25 to 30mm rear!
throw some std KYB's or some Koni's on there and be done with it.

Yeah i think so, enough said.

However when i do decide to buy them, im looking at second hand, so hopefully something pops up in the meantime..
