How do I fix this cable from my soft-top ?
This cable from my MX5's soft-top snaped.
1 Where do I get a new cable?
2 Is it difficult to replace?
3 My soft-top still works fine eg its water tight and folds up and down ok. So what does this cable do exactly?

its the soft top tensioner, its a bit of a challange to change as you have to buy this cable from
http://www.ilmotorsport.de/shop/article_detail.php5?aid=1013&oid=85&depth=0&lang=EN
then you have to drill out the rivet that holds the cable near the windsreen side of the top and re-rivet the new one... my one snapped too, i have removed the excess wire and tension the spring to the top with cable ties... it used to make too much noise on the bumpy roads....i gues you dont reeeally need this cable ??

That is your tension cable, it runs around the sides where the windows are and puts tension down on the roof to keep it nice and tight. You will find with it snapped after a while your roof will become slack above the side windows, let in water, and probably tare.
Both mine have been snapped for some time, and my vinyl roof has tares above the side windows.. I have new ones though, ordered them through www.mx5parts.co.uk a few months back, just waiting on the new roof now..
Heres the link.

You just need the cables, your existing spring seems to be in decent condition.
Cheers

yes you do need me..
Its not a hard job to do, the only annoying bit is trying to thread the new cable through the softtop.
This thread should help you out.

I got the cables and did it
You will need an odd kinda philips head screw driver.
Once the end is rivited on you will need to feed the cable though the hole untill it comes out the other end.
hook the other end of the cable back onto the spring and screw that spring back onto the car and your done.

Its the same for both models.
I have a NB8B roof on my NA, still using the old cables.
