Just another train of thought, if the heater pipes are so fragile, then it could also be the pipe is cracked and leaking. When I look close at the other hose, it also has a small leak as well. Some one could have lent on the hoses when working on the engine, or it could have happened at the sudden stop when you had your accident. Of coarse it could just be the hoses as others have already said. Also imo the factory clamps are more than capable for this application, they are a constant tension that you can't over tighten and crush the heater pipe, and with the correct tool, they are easy to put on and off.

No problem., it's a fairly slow leak. Save some pennies and get two new hoses and put them on with a coolant change at the same time. Keep an eye on your coolant level (in the radiator when cold) until then. My advice: Throw away the factory clips - they are really a "one time use only" thing - and get some good clamps.

If it's 12 months or less old, why not. Otherwise flush it out and put in some fresh stuff.

Those would be the ones!
For the connection of Heater Hose #1 and the back of the block... I found a stubby screw driver really helped
Some swearing will be the call of the day too... trust me...

Just for interest sake... does anyone have any tips?
