I'll add my 2 cents to the debate here. There really are some great people on this forum. Always helpful, offering advice, parts, whatever you can think of. I've never found such a knowledgable and helpful bunch of people on any other forum I've been on.

I know a fair few who've offered me help with dodgy days (I can vouch that lowering a car by yourself is no fun when you've become weak like a kitten from too much forum browsing. ALWAYS good to have some help on that one, and you'll find it here) and bits for the beast with no more than a coffee requested. :)

Come along on a Thursday night and you'll see we're a decent bunch (well, except for Cheyne. He's a bit of a loose cannon. ). Let's wipe the slate clean and start over.

I've just reread this thread after reading the first 2 pages initially and I'm disappointed in how this thread turned out :(

It's time for a rant on why us older owners should be looking out for the younger guys. We have all made mistakes, anyone who denies this is a flowering liar. It's time we acknowledge the culture change, and look to how we can make a positive impact on the younger members of this forum.

I don't think anyone here is admitting to being perfect and in fact it is probably because of previous mistakes that some here feel so strongly about it. If you made a mistake when you were younger by not having insurance and it cost you a 100 grand, would you sit by and see a younger driver make the same mistake? Respect does go both ways. Fortunately most young drivers on this forum are very sensible and appreciate good advise so we don't often have this problem

Ok, This thread is officially out of control. I have locked it since it is:

1: off topic,
2, and as far as Sliq confirmed it, it is now a can of worms (COW).
