AFAIK, Microtech do not do a plug in for the MX5. Best bet is to email the distributor (support@microtech-efi.com) to see if they know if any of their dealers has done a plug in for the early OBD I NAs.

The Wolf V500 has plug in version for 89-94* NAs and comes loaded with a base map to get you onto the dyno for tuning. This will plug in straight into your 1992 MX5.
*Will work for early OBD I NA8s but not for the OBD II NA8s with the different plugs from the NA6.

The Adaptronic does plug in versions for most MX5s.

I'm not familiar with the MegaSquirt wiring so not sure if they do one for your model. I suspect these are more DIY.

Plug ins are the way to go if you are thinking of one day reverting the car back to standard for sale or for any other reason. No wires cut just unplug, refit OEM AFM (and/or OEM TPS) & the OEM ECU.

Another option is to purchase extension harnesses and then wire the EMS into that. So basically you plug in the extension harness which is connected to the EMS. You will need the factory wiring diagram (available on the net) for whoever is doing the wiring.

Lastly, I have said it before and I'll say it again. Please choose your tuner before you choose your EMS. Find a tuner that has done MX5s with similar mods that you have or are planning AND can guarantee the EMS & work performed. If he/she can show or give you a test drive in another MX5 that has been done, this is certainly reassuring and would get my confidence and hard earned money (especially in today's economy). Check your local MX5 club for more help and info.

hi guys, after looking at aftermarket ecu's for a while now i've decided to buy a Microtech LT10S. Does anyone know if there is a plug n play harness available for it?

When I did mine I wanted it plug and play, Microtech made me a harness to plug the computer into
All i had to do was supply them with a ecu plug so it would plug straight in

I did have alot of problems though
Wether it be with the unit itself or the wiring remains to be seen as because of the way MT do business

I had everything installed and working but couldn't get it tuned right away the MT had base maps installed from microtech the car was running fine but it slowly deteriorated to the point where it wouldn't start at all
(over the course of a week maybe two weeks.)
I trouble shooted it with their tech guys etc but couldn't get anywhere

In the end I went to Mazfix and they hard wired it in and it still wouldn't work so then mazfix sent the unit back and microtech "fixed" it and sent it back.
Mazfix reinstalled it to no evail
back it went again and again a third time, the time it came back the third time they had replaced it with a new one
never had a problem since!
In short I probably spent about a grand more than if i had of just went straight to the tuner and paid the 300 bucks to wire it in.

I still have the plug i think somewhere it cost me 3or 350 to be made if the plug is the same for the LT8s as the 10 your welcome to give it a try

thanks for the good advise. That's pretty much what i did. I checked out all of the ecu options & then checked out a heap of tuners to see who could do what. I've settled on the Microtech & Maztech for the tuner. It's not really much use spending money on a decent ecu if you can't get the most out of it.
& i just wanted a harness to make life easier.

I cannot speak too highly of Anthony's work.When is your car going there?I am taking mine uo Nov. 24 to get a high flow fuel pump and a retune since i have modified the exhaust.

Be interesting to see what Kw's they make.

Ah, Miata Bart and I know of an MX5 that is a pefect example of a well fitted and tuned Microtech.

1.6 turbo, slightly less than standard compression, starts first go every go, idles nicely hot and cold, has air con etc and performs flawlessly as a daily driver. Makes well over 200hp at the wheels too.

In the hands of a competant tuner they are a good thing -Admittely I'm slightly biased having used a few of them myself, and I'll happily admit there are products out there that can do more, but in the right hands, Microtech are a darn good thing.
