hrm, the adelaide peeps are gradually moving onto turbos :)

cept for Luke, he took his off. wonder if he sold it, knowing him though he probably put it away in storage with the rest of the parts hoard for a future time.

Sorry for long delay in updates...

Today the car passed the IM240 test at Regency Park! It has been a very long process and a bit expensive but we got here. Next week it is booked in for it's roadworthy and it now has the suspension and wheels engineered. It is back at the tuners now getting it's power tune.

Once the above is done I just need to get my air-con fixed and put in my low level headlights and I'm away!

Which engineer did you go to to have the coilovers signed off? Did they have to weld stops on the threads to prevent them being wound below 100mm? And were the wheels engineered because they were 1 inch too big in diameter, or were they causing your track to extend too far?

Hi Adam, Rory Thompson Services were used, his number is 8258 0796 or 0414 94 8028 - located at Salisbury.

No weld stops on the threads, car needs to meet minimum eyebrow points.

Wheels were engineered because they are larger than 1" increase in diameter. Track was within allowable standards.

haha i new it was just a matter of time adam.. :D you'll love it! where'd you score your's from in the end? or did you get it all new?

back to NA6 power again ey. don't think i could easily just go back to NA6 or even NA8/NB natmo powered. turbo power really does corrupt ones self

so bark, you now have the only SA legal turbo conversion MX-5 & perhaps also the only natmo to turbo conversion in any car as well. & it's no longer in SA??

Well it's still in Adelaide, but it will spend 2-4 yrs in Wollongong... After this time it may be back to Adelaide!

Hopefully others in Adelaide may learn from my experiences and try to do the same thing so that it is not the only one :P

I got my car back after it's uh mmm "power tune" and it made 115rwkw at apparently 10-12psi?? I'm not overly impressed with that number so I am going to find another tuner and see what they can do. I did ask the tuner to tune it to at least 15psi but he didn't! The learnings continue...

If you're willing to take a bit of a trip, give Justin at BlackTrack perofrmance a call - They are in Thornton just near Newcastle and have a truckload of experience tuning turbo B6 and BP engines, including the MX5.
When results speak for themselves - don't interrupt.

Ampz - I am trying to get the msq files off of the tuner, will hopefully have them tomorrow and I will send you a copy. From the msq file will I be able to see if indeed he has tuned it for 12psi?

Sean - Many thanks for reference. My father in law is making some calls around Adelaide tomorrow and I'll see what comes of that. If that does not look too hopeful then I'll bring the car to NSW and will definately scope out BlackTrack performance. Do you know if they have played with megasquirt before?

Not 100% sure if they have megasquirt experience, they have certainly worked with most other brands that I know of.

Alternatively if you want to try and clean it up yourself (or if the megasquirt can autotune) I have a wideband o2 sensor and would be happy to rock into wollongong one day to drop it off and let you see what you can come up with.

I'm semi-often up and down between Canberra-Sydney-Newcastle.
