NC ECU Cracked

Postby blackster » Thu Oct 16, 2008 9:20 am

Sniper Tuning has cracked the NC ECU. They are working on more params, but NCs can now reflash and change fuel, ignition, VVT angle, up the threshold for the Dynamic Stability Control system, eliminate the torque dial-back during shifts, change the rpm limiter, etc.

On the dyno.

Yummy!

Eliminating the torque dial-back would be brilliant. I'd be intersted to know what this is like in practice - ie. is it easy to flash back to factory?

Haven't had any experience with the whole Euro-style flashing of ROMs. It's all the MkV GTi' crowd seem to go on about.

If its any thing like the CAPA system, it will download the factory map and reverse flash it if required.

I'm in love with the concept after rjastra's experience with APR reflashing the ROM in his PoLo. Drive in and drive out 10 minutes later with a whole heap of extra power and torque and no mechanical bits were touched. Everything still looks and works like it did when it left the factory (apart from the extra go) and a few presses of the cruise control button in the right sequence and it magically all goes back to the stock settings again if required, or if you forked out the extra cash, a few more presses on the cruise control button and it will go to an even more extreme set up for even more go. Brilliant.

I agree with Garry,

Feeling the difference that they can achieve by tweaking a few curves that they would had 'muted' for the less power hungry/ lowest common denominator driver is brilliant.

If it can transform a Golf GTi into something with the same power output as an Audi S3 while not attracting the attention of officer Plod, i am even more impressed!
