Beatrush rear upper strut-brace. Installed and loving it!

Postby Steampunk » Mon Oct 13, 2008 7:27 pm

I know not many people have a rear strut-brace so I thought I would just post my opinion about one.
Short answer: awesome! 8)

Long answer: I installed chassis rigidity-improving parts one at a time so I can better quantify the improvements they made;
- 1st was a front strut tower brace from Cusco. This improved turn-in at speeds over 50km/h and reduced scuttle shake noticeably
- 2nd was the MX5Plus torque box rollbar, the double hoop version. Virtually all scuttle shake in the rear was eliminated. Made the car oversteer slightly.
- lastly is the rear upper strut-tower brace from Beatrush. Cruising along streets I know very well, no scuttle shake at all!, this included rolling over train tracks at 50km/h, and both rear tyres feel like they are making more positive contact on the road.

I didn't get a chance to drive around some well-known twisties as it was peak-hour, but Lakeside track day is less than 72hours away.

Photos will be posted tomorrow.

BIG BIG thanks to Danny, aka ORX626, once again for taking some time out of his busy schedule to install it for me.
That's another one I owe you mate. :)

I didn't notice much difference when I installed mine (LF Performance brand) but I think the rigidity of the brown davis maked it's effectiveness.

If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

got it from eBay, for a change  . And a wee bit too much, but hey, they are fairly rare to come by from a decent manufacturer at a semi-decent price.

Sorry for blurry first pic, but camera wouldn't focus properly... obviously.

Maybe it'll rain, so it makes your decision not to go slightly easier to swallow.
We are there ALL DAY you know... so you can pitch up for half of it maybe?

I have one aswell I do notice a slight difference in added stiffness.
I think its worth its weight so it stay in the car even on track days.
Not sure what is better roll bar or this but it weigh a lot less than roll bar.

I think this may be my next cheap mod. I just received my Beatrush radiator cooling plate thingy yesterday and they are a very well made part indeed so I will happily buy from the ebay seller again.

Oh I failed to mention that the reason why I thought this is worthy of mention is that, in my experience at least, it has made a better improvement in handling and reducing scuttle shake than a front strut tower brace even AFTER installing a big-ass roll-bar.
Goes to show how "flimsy" the rear-end is.

tuned_to_fly you wont be dissapointed as I was very pleasantly surprised to find that Laile also includes the spare tyre re-locator bracket as shown in their pics, but they didn't mention it in the wording in their ad.

The workmanship is typical Japanese brand-name, TOP NOTCH.
End brackets fit perfectly and the cross-beam is mirror finished stainless steel. It was actually a bit of a shame to hide it in the boot.

I dont know about the NA but in the NB I dont think you can fit the trim and the fuel line shield back when you install the rear strut brace.

Well it better go up to 90YEN+.... but unlikely

I don't mind the Beatrush, if only they made a 1 piece bar.
