Proper wheel alignment in Perth?

Postby redwards » Wed Oct 08, 2008 12:59 am

I'm hoping to embark on my first autokhana outing in a few weeks. I'm considering getting a proper wheel alignment before it. Any suggestions for a good spot, preferably in Osbourne Park?

I have always had mine done at Wheels World, they do quality work and settings will be exactly what you asked for. You will need to book at least a few days in advance as they are a two man operation, but worth the wait. They are in Carbon Court Osbourne Park.

Have fun in the autokhana, I presume it is the midvale event? Watch out for the roundabout!
Street='94 with FFS Coldside. Sold :(
Race='97 with AVO (soon to be Absurdflow) and GT2560 <--- sod that... LS1 conversion underway!

Why do people keep telling me that? :(

I just had mine done at Bridgestone Tyre Centre Bentley (really welshpool) Richard. Kerry there is a nice bloke and seems to know his stuff. He had a bit of biffo at Targa West so don't know if he is back at work yet.

Good luck at the khana. It is a huge amount of fun. Don't worry about the roundabout. I might see you there.

As mentioned above, the two shops that have had the most experience setting up MX5s are:
1) Wheels World - John & Bob
2) Bridgestone Bentley - Kerry & Graeme Wade
Club members have had success with both companies for many years now 8)

As for the Midvale event, I think everyone is warning you about the roundabout because of the potential of hitting a curb.

Probably another tip would be to practise your braking (if non-ABS) so you don't end up with flat spots on all tyres stopping in the garage

Thanks everyone!

That's put my mind at ease. I think that's what Simon was getting at on the weekend - you have an off on the roundabout, you actually have something to hit!

Now for a more fundamental question: should I get a wheel alignment before the khana? Or see how I go and then decide? A mate of mine suggested the latter as then I can work out how I want to car to perform.

Oh, and can someone PM me with the usual prices?

I would suggest getting the alignment done prior to the event, might as well do the autokhana with everything pointing in the right direction.
As mentioned by others already, John & Bob at Wheels World would be my first pick.
