RT615 205/50x15 28 psi
A-460 195/50x16 32 psi
I had no idea what the advan is supposed to be like. I knew nothing about it.
The Falken is now below the markers on all tyres. The compound should be Ok, its only 20 mths old. I guess it was due to start going off soon as it doesn't get garaged.
Advans are 2nd hand. Back ground unknown tread is about 80-90% at the fronts rears are prolly down to 30%.
However last night and this morning I've managed to give them a reasonable go in the wet.
I really like the them . Initial turn is is more responsive. I love that part. but overall grip in the wet is less than the RT 615. Even though I run the A_460 at 32psi the sidewall seems a fair bit stiffer than the RT-615. At least on 32 psi, the A-460 wants to shake everything & is pretty unforgiving over bumps. But fantastic over smooth surfaces.
I guess the real test will be putty road......if there are any dry bits.
The tyre is a fraction taller than the Falken.....
But overall I love the quicker turn in the Advan has over the Falken.
Not sure if the Advans needs a warm up like the Falken. But I haven't had the chance to find out.
Not sure how these tyres will wear.
but overall so far I quite like the Advans.

Just did the same run on 28 psi. Much more comfortable but the sidewalls are nowhere near as stiff as with 32psi.
Sydney roads. 28psi
mountain roads 32psi
It still hs a slightly better feel on turn in. But does not stick as good as the RT615
Turn in with the advans on 32psi is fantasic.....but to harsh for my own personal liking.
I couln't drive on 32 psi on Sydney roads for a prolonged period.

So does this mean you've gone back to the dark (16 inch) side STM? What sort of $ are the advans? I need to put new tyres on my beastie, so i'm interested in all the 16" options

yep I'm back on a set of 16"
Tyres are Yokohama Advan A-460
195/50x16.
They are a fraction taller than my existing 205/50x15 combo.
I have no idea what the relative price is four the Aodvance is to say the 596RS is. You can now pick up the 595 Rs's for around $210 per corner. 2 years ago I couln't get them below $290
The Bridgestone RS01 ( I think) which is the absolute ducks guts, has come down in price. & quite a no of businesses are importing them for a resonable price.....
so when the time comes......price check on the Bridgestones

1red5. You could be on the money there.....I've dríven on the Bridegstones once. Loved everything about them.
However. This morning I went up Putty Road . It was pretty wet. The RT615 are a fair bit superrior to these Advance in wet conditions. Even with the Falkens virtually no tread left on them.
BigDog. You are very welcome to bolt these wheels & tyres on yours for a few days/weeks & try them out if you like.
