Having an owners manual is essential in my view- many items of value in it . Replacements for 100K are oil , filter, fuel filter and timing belt. There are posts on replacing timing belt.

Thanks Mr Mortlock . What is this about changing the water pump? Is it worth it ?

Not sure where water pump came into it Nick - it is not part of a maintenance/ replace regime.

yup, change the water pump. u may as well do it if you're changing the timing belt because you have to remove the water pump to get to the belt.

i'll try and post up a list of parts when my assignments are finished

I did the water pump on the 100,000k service on my NA6. My mechanic said basically what sliq said, since it has to come off anyway, and it isn't that much more to replace it, you might as well.

Actually the water pump doesn't need to come off to replace the timing belt, but if the water pump needs to be replaced at a later time then everything that needs to be removed to replace the timing belt also needs to be removed to replace the water pump. It's a bit of preventative maintenance. Basically while everything is pulled apart you might as well replace the water pump while you're there. There's only about 4 extra bolts that need to be removed to replace the water pump. Same thing applies to the cam shaft oil seals and the timing belt tensioner/idler pulleys.

If it's not too rude a question how much did you have to shell out for the service and was it done by mazda? regards Nick.

I'm also getting syncros sorted as they have started to snick in 1st to 2nd and 4th to 5th.That bit is I hope on the warranty.
Just have to spend a week driving my old J 20 jeep.
