EBC greenstuff pads

I'm looking at upgrading the pads on my nb8a, and i'm considering the greenstuff pads, as i've heard good things about them...

I'm wondering if anyone on the forum has any experience with these pads, and if so would they recommend them???

I have them in my NA8, the standard pads were pretty easy to fade but I've never faded the Greenstuff. My cousin had them in his 5 series and on a number of times got them so hot that when we came out of the hills and he pulled over the dust on the pads/callipers set alight, but there was no fade.

I had them on my Pug, the first set were unreal, never any fade, limited dust and great cold bite. The second set were apparently a new compound and sucked hard. The opposite in every respect. It wasn't the fluid either as that was new DOT4+ and the rotors were DBA slotted.

I've done lots of googling and trawled through a fair number of forums, and, as Brad stated, it seems that opinions are divided almost evenly. Some say they are awesome, some say they are shite, and it seems it's all down to the compound they use at the time.
I was close to buying a set, but settled on Hawk instead.

IMHO there are plenty of well tested compunds out there which do not suffer from the same compound variances EBC's seem to have. I'm running Bendix Ultimate now which are great, and have a set of HP+ for the track, too dusty and noisy for road use though.

I fitted a set 4 months ago to my NA with NB brakes NB std rotors - they have done 3 track days with excellent results - no fade even though rotors were blue.
Very little dust on wheels compared to std.
I have not measured wear yet.

I have red stuff on the front and green stuff on the back on NB8B brakes. Nothing but praise for them so far

I use the same as Ben on my NA race car. Excellent but don't quite last long enough for me. Would be perfect for a road car. I am going back to EBC yellow front and Red on the rears. i have used EBC on a number of racecars over the years and have been really happy with the. I have tried alot of other pads but always end up back with EBC's. Some people love them some people hate them.

:mrgreen: :mrgreen: :mrgreen: I've had green stuff pads on for 12 months now. Normal street driving - good feel , no hard pressure, no squeel, no fade. I've done about 8 track days now and there is still plenty of meat left. :twisted: The biggest run was on the full QR Cct for 30 minutes - NO FADE. The last lap was as good as the first. One thing - I also bought a set of RDA Slotted rotors and bedded them in as per manufacturers spec. :D :D :wink:

Just out of interest, the NB8A does not have ABS braking. So do we want brakes that will lock up the wheels into a skid or do we compensate lack of ABS by having slightly weaker pads to keep the wheels rotating which theoretically should stop better and with more control than wheels that are skidding?

Wrong. Pads do not affect the wheels locking. There is no logic in what you say.

On my girlfriends NA, we're running EBC Greens, and we both love them, plenty of stopping power, and they have never faded. When my next service is done i'll probably be putting them on my NB. Great pads! I highly recommend them.

Wheels lock due to the wheels stop turning. The point you get the wheels to stop turning will be the same whatever the pad.
