C32A is a most unusual engine. In the Legend it sits north south however the Legend is front wheel drive. There is a funny diff that comes forward from the autobox and then the longer of the two half shafts goes right through the sump! (the sump is about a foot deep with a big hole through the side where the shaft goes through it.) The C32A is slightly related to the 206kw C32B (NSX motor). I swapped a pair of mx5 seats for the C32A so you might say I got it pretty cheap. I wanted a V6 as not many people do these conversions yet they are obviously shorther than a V8 and being all alloy there is less chance of building "a lead tipped arrow" handling car!
Nark asked "Don't Mazda do an all alloy V6?". I don't know if they have one in their current lineup but the older (and more available) engines such as the 1.8 V6 (30X), 2.5 (MX-6) and 2.3 Miller cycle supercharged are all cast iron.
The problems I'm going to have with the C32 are its width being a 90 degree motor (Honda's J series sixes are 60 degrees like the J35 in the MDX). The sump depth. I plan to dry sump it. There is no RWD gearbox to bolt onto it. As I plan to use an RX7 rear end (diff and brakes) I might as well use the RX7 gearbox. This means a frankenstein bellhousing. Half Honda and half Mazda! I have no computer for it. I was originally considering MoTec but now I'm seiously thinking about megasquirt.
Another engine I'd like to do that is just not available in Australia is the Ford KZ 3.0 V6 (Yamaha built with 220 hp in the U.S Ford Taurus SHO). It is a very practical choice as although in the Taurus it was east west, it bolts up to Ford RWD gearboxes like the T5 and has a symetrical intake manifold that can be rotated 180 degrees! One drawback though is that it is cast iron (but it is still a corker!) More info:
