Hello everyone. I've been using this forum as a guidance before I purchase my mx5, which is about 3 weeks ago. I initially wanted a 240z, but then, could not find one that suited me. All of a sudden, I saw a really nice and clean looking na6 on carpoint and it had that classic look which I have been long for. Gentle yet sporty. Sporty yet elegant. Perfect. I went for a test drive then I fell in love and bought the car.

My car is mostly stock. It only have mods such as
- yellow koni coilover
- chassis braces
- pod filter

It is manual steering, and has its air conditioning removed. Now summer is coming, I am going to suffer. What do I need to install an air con back on?

Added primer and all the neccessary items. Then painted it, and now looks clean. No more dirt. No more rust. All thanks to my friend.

Changed the brake pad with just ferodo excel. Going to rebuild my front caliper and add dba slotted rotor or get na8 brakes, any suggestion? Going to try some Hawk + performance pads next.
Just rebuilt my rear caliper yesterday, the mechanic gave me a rough qoute of $250 and ended up charging me $416. How much better do na8 brakes stop better than na6? What is the usual price of rebuilding caliper?

Another question is that the mechanic told me I can't just change the steering rack bushing

He have to send the whole rack away and get it rebuild. Is that true? I was hoping to get a new bushing for my steering rack like the above link one.

Can't help with cost of rebuilding the calipers, with regards to the steering rack bushes. Get yourself a good manual, such as the MX-5 enthusiats guide by Rod Graniger. Great help for all things, including brake rebuilds, steering racks. The super pro bushes that FM are selling a made in Qld and available through many good suspension shops.

I see, so it is possible just to change those bushes without getting the whole rack rebuild?

Not 100% sure on that. I will try and have a look at my manual a bit later today and see what I can find.

Is there a particular reason why you want to change the bushes on the rack. If you want to go the whole hog I would also suggest replacing all of the suspension bushes. Around 8-9 hours work if you have the tools.

For manual you have to take rack end off, power, you don't, its on FM website.
