BuddyClub QF's need painting !!!
hi all,
I just purchased a set of WHITE buddy club QF's (15 x 7 +35) (2nd hand, at good price)
The problem is ..... my NB8B is silver, can any1 recommend me a place to paint them in black/gun metal in sydney ?!
Does anyone here know how much it's gonna cost???
The wheels are only 2 weeks old so it won't need any repair what so ever
Thanks all
Robbie

hey mate, i am about to paint my wheels aswell, they are the stock rims from an na6 mx5.
as far as i know this can be done quite cheaply (under $20) and can show quite good results with out needing to pay big bucks or remove the tires.
here is a link with lots of pics, tips and advice. http://www.mx5cartalk.com/phpBB-3.0.2/viewtopic.php?f=30&t=32964
i bought the vht gloss black paint and clear coat for $15 each from auto barn, also some etch primer and some meguiars all wheel heavy duty cleaner + sand paper.
cheers,
cheyne

If you want the paint to last for a while, powdercoating is the way to go.
Go and talk to a couple of powdercoaters to get prices etc., and also ask them what work you can do to make it cheaper for them to do it.
Things like removing the tyres would be a big help for them, and perhaps even sanding them down so the paint has something to grip on to.
If you paint them yourself, i doubt the paint will last very long, and then the white paint behid it will start to show through.
Good painting is 90% perparation, and 10% spraying.

For new wheels, definitely get them powder-coated.
$2 spray can method is for older secondhand wheels

i probably won't get them powder coated or painted anytime soon.
wheel balance and alignment and tyre fitting costs aren't cheap...
i know 15's are a tad small ... but it's light lol
4.65 kgs ... standard is 7 kgs .... so i saved 2.35 on each corner ... and the tyres are lighter too !!!
i think black will look better but.... not much cash..... the lock nuts cost me $200 too
so ... mayb next time i change my tyres i'll powder coat them =)
