Getting more bias to the rear of an NA6 definitely helps. You can use an aftermarket adjustable valve (Wilwood/Tilton) with the correct adaptors, or you can retrofit an NB valve (~$250) quite easily.

i'm hoping that by using slotted na6 rotors on the front, and na8 brakes on the back, i'll get more rear bias and overall better performance, and brake fade will no longer be a problem.

i'm no engineer (HINT HINT MATTY - I'D BE KEEN ON YOUR OPINION  ) but it makes sense to me that the rears will now have more stopping power, given the same amount of pressure applied to the pedal. hence, more rear bias. i have no data to back this up, so i'll just have to wait and see. the na8 rears are sitting in the shed ready to go, i just haven;t got around to it yet.

also bruce, i have a master cylinder brace (also sitting in the shed) if you wanna have a look at it. i got it thru one of the famous "boags group buys" a few months ago, still haven't got around to fitting it yet

NA8 upgrade isnt expensive, it is if you swallow the prices the local suppliers want though!

Got my 4 wheel upgrade (caliper brackets, new rotors, HP+ pads, stainless lines) ex USA for 550 bucks including freight (Ocean).

Check some of the US Miata wreckers 8)

Can you PM me more details about buying from US wreckers and organising freight? Web sites, company, and maybe a brief description as to the whole process would be really appreciated. $550 for all that (even in USD) is a bargain.

I think that should be an excellent setup. It may be prone to rear lockup, so be careful with it at first! (It may of course be perfectly fine. Front lockup is much safer.)

It won't however do much for brake fade, as the fronts are still doing the bulk of the work. You'll need some good pads there to prevent that.

Problem is all the ones i've seen don't fit under many different types of wheels (including OEM) without spacers.

How much are the bracket to mount the RX7 callipers Terry?
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

I would have to take my own set off to get copies of the brackets made up,don't have any idea on the cost.I have 3 sets of wheels that clear these brakes 16x7 but they are not Mazda wheels..

I was running factory NA6 brakes on my supercharged car until recently and doing a fair amount of track work. I was using EBC Green Stuff pads but also using AP600 race fluid and used some ducting to bring air from the 'mouth' of the car to cool the rotors. This seemed to help and they were fine on the track.
I have just bought and fitted a set of brakes from an SE and they make a LOT of difference over the NA6 brakes even with standard pads.

I am interested in a 4-piston upgrade for my NA6.

What front discs are you using and what other parts do you need for this converison? Interested in a set of your calipers if I can sort it all in my head first. I would like to stay with a 4x100 wheel. I have 15x6 Watanabe's, not idea if these would clear or not, can't imagine they would? ....

Cheers
