You need a 4 wire sensor, no idea of the part number though.

you will need 4 wire

part number is NGK OZA527-E1 ask them to look for similar part numbers and they should come up with a generic. a few people have been having problems finding a 4 wire, so just ring around. i know smithfield repco has them, (may need to order some though) ask for alan, weekdays and tell him adam sent you for a 02 sensor for a mx-5, that is ofcourse if you are in sydney.

miaturd wrote:i got the ngk from auburn autobahn! alot more helpful guys there and i got it for $79 which i think is alright considering repco were charging me $120!!! and do any of you guys have tips on removing the o2 sensor?? ive been trying to get my spanner into there but it seems like its nearly impossible to get the head onto the top of the sensor >.< do i have to remove the heat shield?

Oh yeah and thanks for the model number adam =)

no problem andrew, did you ring smithfield repco? alan could of got it for you for $60! alwell.

i removed my heatshield (probably dont need to, cant remember) and used WD-40 to lube it up a bit (make sure the headers are COLD), then i was tossing up which way to get it off, i ended up taking the wheel off and going through the hole and loosening it. i have since forgoten on what the wiring combination is, what colour wires came on the ngk plug? you wil need to snipp off the connector as it isnt the same as ours. you will also need to snipp off the 02 sensor from the wires, then crimp male and female plugs on all wires and merge together. i will try find which wires go where for you.
