Apart from the head unit (which doesn't look anything special), my hi-fi system looks 100% stock, but I bet it will sound better than yours, when you've finished it. :P

JVC head unit with USB input (which I love), Focal splits, 8" Alpine sub in a custom made box, and a big amplifier that fits in the tunnel between the tank and the sides of the car.
Don't know the brand of the amplifier, it was reccomended to me by my hi-fi guy, and it works really well.

While it doesn't look flash (and I didn't want it to look flash for thieves), the sound quality is excellent, and I can still hear it well while doing 160km/h with the roof down.
I've been a bit of an audiophile since I was quite young and appreciate good sound, not overly loud thumping crap, although my system can thump with the best of them, but I'm more interested in superb sound quality.

I have the optional Bose sound system in my Mercedes, and I think the sound quality is reasonable.
If it wasn't for the stupid BUS electrical system the car has, I would have upgraded that too to try and get as good quality sound as I have in my SP.

The head unit is just a cheapish JVC unit.
I chose it because it looks pretty ordinary, but has a USB port in the front of it, which I use often.
You can't see the amp without removing half of the boot trim, and you can see the sub on my cardomain webpage, which you can access via my profile.

Can't tell you which Focals I've got, but they cost me around $1,4000 for the pair of splits about 6 years ago.

Yeah, comma's in the wrong spot. :P

I've just put a JVC in mine too. USB connection is now via a cable (at least on this model) which doubles as an iPod connection. Works well, sounds ok (still running factory speakers at the moment) and the extra gadgets (USB, Bluetooth, etc.) all work as advertised. :)
