If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

Its VHT wrinckle paint (One can does one cam cover with two generous coats)

You just spray it on heat it up a bit and it wrinckles up for you :)

Smells a bit but it goes away after a little while.

Get a wet rag and get all that dust outta your engine bay!

There is no 'c' in wrinkle you winkle.

WUN Am I right that your car is VVT and if so is there any special requirements in removing the VVT set up before removing the cam cover? Did you replace the gasket head to cam cover.

my understanding was you needed five to six LIGHT coats.. whereas two generous coats will result in the paint flaking and peeling later on.. :|

Did a light coat and it didn't wrickel up much then I just went nuts and spray more. Two coats caus it takes ages for 1 coat of paint to dry (overnight).

Yeah I got a new gasket rubber thing and a tube of high temp resistant gasket silicone stuff from mx5 parts uk.

Yeah you pull the vvt thing off, its like 4 bolts for the thing near the oil cap and 3 bolts for the metal tube that runs the lenght of the cam cover.

I tried the red wrinkle and didn't really like the effect. It brightened too much and looked quite bad in a red engine bay. The SE cam covers have a nicer tint of red than what comes out of the VHT can, in my experience.

Hey wun I hear if you do the bolts up loose they weigh less.
