new toyo R1R - anyone used them yet?

Postby 16bit » Tue Sep 09, 2008 9:55 am

Has anyone used the new Toyo R1R's yet? I am considering getting some for my new wheels that will be coming in - I have read good things from emilo at 949racing but just wanted some local opinions. Apparently they are like an rt615, rs2 or 595rsr.

i have had a quick scan and the cheapest i could find for 205 50 15 for the rt 615's was about 200 each. lets just say I got them a bit cheaper then that. although I am not sure the deal would be good for anyone else as a guy I know who knows a guy called the boss of toyo qld and put the deal together. I don't want to post the price just yet as the tyres are not fitted yet! will do once they are on to make sure the deal does not go south. from all accounts the dry grip of these is something else for a non r comp road tyre. It has been compared to the RE01-R bridgestone and apparently is a bit gripper than these. Although the side wall is not as stiff with all toyos but it does weigh less. Anywho I am sure these will be more then enough for the road - will post once on and scrubbed in.

yes these are a street tyre - the r888's are a road legal race tyre. they use a difference rubber compound.

They probably have a treadwear rating of about 200 like the RT 615s which means they are twice as hard as most r compounds which are generally 100 or below.

They have a treadwear rating of 140 which puts them right next to the Federal 595RS-Rs.

what he said.

they are soft to the point if you leave them out below zero they will freeze and crack. stricktly a summer/warm environment tyre only.
