Tan interior, fully tradeable?
Hey, this might be a stupid question to ask, but if were to trade a complete tan interior with a normal black interior, is it possible to do it yourself, or will you need special tools etc.

To get the carpet out you may have to remove the dashboard. The Dashboard ......although certainly not impossible, can be a fair amount of work.

To each his own.
The reason I got my original '93 Limited Edition was because of the tan interior. A perfect match for the red paintwork and it made the interior so much lighter, showing the detail up better than the standard black.

It's definitely possible. I looked at doing it when I went from my BRG/tan to Red NA.
As Stan mentioned, you'll need to take the dashboard out to get the carpet out - or you could just buy another tan floor carpet. To do it properly you'll need to swap the dashboard anyway as the tan interior has the tan crashpad bit on the front. You can attempt to swap the crashpad, but it's not usually very successful.

Its not that hard a job to do.
i've done it and I have gone another colour again since then anyway
FWIW I would consider going two tone
i.e.
leaving the original dashboard in and the top covings of the doors door handles and centre console black and changing carpet, seats, bottom of door trims etc
If your swaping for a tan import interior - the top of the dash is painted black with a ruberised product similar to the stuff on the lower section of the doors(outside)
if it isn't in good condition when you buy it, you'll never get it to be what it should be like
I accidently damaged mine when the car was getting resprayed
I ended up removing it all + removing the grain finish from the dash board and painting it the same colour as the car
looks awesome now but was a mega pain in the ass!
buying a second hand dashboard the things to look for are cracks that run from front to back(caused by the screws holding the air ducts underneath)
that the crash pad mentioned before is not peling away at the edges on the underside by the glove box
and that its actually straight ie side to side
if your swaping with someone and its in their car its not a problem but if its from a wreeckers just keep in mind that it will have spent some days exposed in the sun!

I actually want to switch Tan to black, as dont really like the tan interior all too much

well you can do it if you want and you are the one to judge whether the cost the time and the effort are worth it. Many would prefer the original and some actually work around leaving things that do not need to be changed or renewed. Your car your money your choice

My previous 5 was BRG and Tan and the interior certainly grows on you, so give it some time and see if you start to like it more.
