The car at the top of the page (gold wheels) is actually not BRG, but Montego Blue (a blue/green colour), the same colour as mine:

Go NA8, you'll love it.

Im surprised no ones said this, but the ad mentions its a 1994 1.8. I could be wrong, but the only BRG & tan limited edition i know of in Australia was the 1991 NA6. I guess the owner could have bought a complete tan interior and fitted it to his 94 NA8, but i didnt think dark green was actually a standard colour for NA's in Aust?

Maybe its a JDM private import (94 NA8's cant be brought in by importers under SEVS)?

After owning a Modified NA6 and then driving an unmodified aussie NA8 i would go the Na8 any day.

The extra torque and power is awesome!!1

Just the sheer benefits of diff and brakes as well!!!

Correct, it is a privately imported NA8 Eunos Roadster V Special or V Special Type II.

I think its a V Special based on the (still) green mirrors & BBS alloys but then there is the tan soft top. So either the soft top has been replaced with a tan one or it was actually optioned at factory if the customer preferred the look.

Either way, it is a Eunos Roadster Privately Imported V Special (or Type II)

I also have the entire JDM MX5 model range listed from 1989 till Feb 2007 in my 50th Road&Ster mag but since the NZ club website has the list of the Jap spec Eunos Roadster from 1989 till the 1999 10AE model, here it is for future reference -> clicky

Hey Marvis, looks like the majority have supported the NA8 as the choice - hope you can find a nice one in great condition and don't forget to post up some pics 8)

The carsales car doesn't look like a NA8... the door mirrors look like those off a 1.6L.

That last picture of a green NA is not a standard colour. Would you stop posting random pix from around the globe as it confuses things.

Australia got the so called BRG NA6 in 91 (?). Black roof, tan interior, Nardi wheel, wood knob, limited edition.
If you're looking at a BRG with tan roof it will probably be a jap import.

Don't forget the 1996 neo green (same colour as the 91 'BRG')

Hey Marvis, I'm in the same boat as you. I'm buying for the first time, but not looking into drifting as of yet, (such an expensive sport).

Good thing you're in Queensland, or else I'd have to start a bidding war with you in Sydney =P. I actually have my eye on a a few 1.8L Mx5s, the prices are a bit much but hopefully they'd be able to work something out. And I gues if those fall through, 1.6 the way to go. I guess if the lack of power is really frustrating I can drop a 1.8 NB engine in there? Not sure actually how difficult it is, I'll prob research that when the time comes.

How much do you have on you now?

I was also thinking of a loan before, but I'm a bit insecure about those things, so I'm just saving up for now. Be sure you can pay off that loan, theyre dangerous things.

Better option, get a second job. Are you a Uni student? Or still high school?

I'm a uni student working 2 jobs at the moment, for a while I was working 3 jobs, and summer holidays are coming up soon, maybe you should think about picking up some extra shifts or whatever, try to spend as little as you can, and in no time you will be much better off and get yourself a good quality mx5.

Don't worry about coilovers and other mods just yet, get a feel of the car first, and then decide for yourself what kind of modifications you need and prioritise them. You can save up for them after you get the car and at the same time get to know your car. Judging from the ones ive been driving, I think for me the first thing I need are better brakes.

Sigh, there really arent any good 1.6s out there anymore, and basically no 1.8s whatsoever. (in NSW)

How long have you been looking?

When I bought mx52nv, I took 6 months to find exactly what I wanted and in the correct price range. Be patient and you will find the right one

Good luck!

I've been actively looking at the market since mid June of this year, but only started actually inspecting 2 weeks ago. So far the ones I've seen are... not so great... they either had one or more of the following: bad service records, rust, dead brakes, dead clutch, no power steering, no air conditioning. The last two I dont really mind as such but every one I've looked at had one or more of those problems. I've still got about 3 more options at the moment, or else I'll either need to save more money and buy a dealer used, or just wait it out... I'm afraid as we get closer to summer, less people as willing to sell
