I don't want the event cancelled! STM and the putty go together like Craig and farts.
STM's knowledge of the road is handy but those running towards the end will have to push even harder if you try and stick in convoy.
I love the idea of forum members getting together but I guess there's a few of us who are getting nervous when people make road driving sound "competitive". We'd hate for anything bad to happen. We're a close community of friends and like to look out for each others.

If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

I'm confused, please quote an example of this. Perhaps you've been taking things the wrong way.

will you be on the semi slicks? I must come prepared!
i have a friend with an old school supra with a 2jz 650hp thats wants to tag along, i wouldn't mind us all teaching him a lesson.
I dont believe anyone is advocating to cancel the event, just take heed of the warnings. Have fun and keep safe..........

Oi, Don't miss quote me about that Supra Blackster,
Read on and you will find a sensible decision to leave it at home because the guys a wanker.
Also regarding the emotional blackmail going on here RE STM, grow up fellas, he has made a decision and if you all can't hack that, don't go!
If he does not want to lead the pack or even attened, that is his business. Not yours!
I think it's funny actually that you tube can be used as a correct tool to gauge how a road is. This may not be the worst road ever, but plenty have been hurt here. If you do go, have fun boys and girls but be safe.
Maybe we have taken you the wrong way in some text and read more into this than needed be, but I agree that too many ppl on this road at the same time. (we all know that the speed limit will be broken on the day) is not a good thing.
also with all the hype about it now, I have no idea who has read this forum and really don't want to go now due to this fact! call me a sook if you will, I have done many an old pac and putty, but this time it feel's wrong for some reason.
Cheers Josh

I see what you mean about the supra post, but if you read on the supra is staying at home, and the comment about semi slicks, do you really think any of us are stupid enough to try to take on a car with semi's with road tyres? If he is planning on running semi slicks that is the best descision he could make, while everyone is driving 7/10ths he will be driving only 5/10ths going the same speed with plenty of grip reserve for the unexpected.

Erm, we know its not our business, doesn't mean we can't try to persuade him to come and have fun and that we're not irresponsible. yes his experience could benefit us but you're making out like we're all gonna go nuts and smash everywhere if he doesn't, we know how to drive a god damn car.
And way to go, after being informed that anyone could be reading you go and post this.
(we all know that the speed limit will be broken on the day)
Keep this sort of comment to yourself, we're not planning on doing anything illegal.
So come and have fun in a lovely sunday drive through the mountains.

I think this has gone a little further than it should have. I can't judge whether people were serious about "competitive" things said, I'd like to hope they weren't.
As far as I know this run was organized soon after the success of the iceberg run in July, someone mentioned it would be a good idea to try and get everyone together regularly.
Maybe I assumed (possibly wrongly) that this run would consist of similar people, with a similar atmosphere. I wouldn't have thought there was any kind of dangerous driving or competitiveness on that run, so I was/am really looking forwards to this one.
I haven't ever been on putty road, but I think it would be safe to say its been hyped a little. From the forumites I do know, I haven't seen them disrespect a road. But then I don't know everyone. It is a real shame that people are bailing out, but thats their decision, for their own reasons, and fair enough.
sasso, you make a very good point.
the event started to get people together and have an enjoyable day.. now well, I'll guess we'll see on the day.

okay guys! this thread wasn't designed to slander, blackmail, make anyone feel bad, guilty, attack anyone or their driving skills...
so let's stop the bickering!
we're all here just for a good sunday drive (and at some stages, hopefully spirited)
this thread was designed for us to enjoy each other's company, cars, trade a few lies and meet new people. the very last thing you would want is to meet the person (who's attacking you or you're attacking on the forum) face to face and have this awkwardness..... right?

Wow.
I won't be there, but would just like to add: if you haven't been on this road before it's a great drive even if you do 60km/h the whole way. Don't overdo it - just have fun and enjoy the drive.

and the comment about semi slicks, do you really think any of us are stupid enough to try to take on a car with semi's with road tyres?
Honest answer?
Yep! under peer pressure i have seen it done many times before! I have done it when I was a bit younger!
Also regarding the emotional blackmail going on here RE STM, grow up fellas, he has made a decision and if you all can't hack that, don't go!

Chill out little home boy!
No one said anything about you not being able to drive,
I think that you honestly do believe that you all can drive, I have not seen you drive to comment!
And way to go, after being informed that anyone could be reading you go and post this.
(we all know that the speed limit will be broken on the day)
I'll just leave that one, it's too easy! this is what you wrote.........
As if you'll get 400km out of a tank on a spirited drive lol
you guys really are hyping this road up, it better be as dangerous/good as you all say. Tight, fast, winding, undulating, dangerous road with cops and lots of accidents...
I better bring my 20L track day fuel tank.....not that my car's going to be ready.
The fact that your car is not ready is besides the piont.
Lets be honest here Sasso, you and I just call it different things! I call it slightly speeding, you call it spirited!
Keep this sort of comment to yourself, we're not planning on doing anything illegal.
Weather you plan on doing anything illegal or not is not my place, as far as you telling me to keep my comment to myself, what gives you the right?
But in saying all this Sasso, I do agree with some of your points, maybe I have got it out of context, just as you have with my comments about the semi slicks!
It was a dig at STM rather than a challenge but I can see how it could be taken out of context so easy!
So come and have fun in a lovely sunday drive through the mountains.

Ah but "spirited" isn't as attention grabbing to the authorites than the other "S" word you said, it also does not imply illegal activities. We don't want to get ambushed by cops (although they're probably already ready for those Nissan guys who will end up in the ditch, we've seen it before )
Oh don't worry, I was trying to defend your comment about the semi slicks, I know it was just a joke, some people didn't though.
Hope you're still coming, and hope STM changes his mind so he doesn't miss out.

I can't decide whether to take the swift or ride shotgun with a camera with someone. I think I'd get really dizzy as passenger, but the swift wouldn't be as good as being in a 5.

The reason I put up the Youtube link was purely to inform, particularly because there seemed to be so much uncertainty surrounding the putty rd run at the time. I know it's not an accurate tool in which to gauge the road by, however I thought it might help
