Sparco Sprint JNR q's

i sat in my mates sparco sprint today and i fell in love, much tighter then the monacos i have now and it lets me sit lower in the car. we test fitted them in my car today to see where they would sit with the rollbar, suprisingly they sit further back then my monaco's so they will be up for sale when i get some sprint jnr's.

i am curious on a few things though.

my mate says that they are a straight fit, however he has a na6 and the rails holes dont line up to my 5. so are these seats a straight fit for nb's? if not, what work needs to be done to get these jems to fit?

also who distributes these seats?

yup, last time i checked they are a straight fit.. you can use your existing rails with minor modifications.

the sparco sprint junior line finished a year or two back.. they come up sometimes on ebay...

I've got Sparco Sprint V's in My Nb8a, and with a few minor modifications, they will fit perfectly on the standard seat rails.

However, the passenger side installation is much more difficult than the driver side installation, with more extensive modifications required to achieve the same fit...

Peninsula sports car services in Brookvale may have the older Sprint Jnr Seats, so give them a buzz.

But with the new updates on the forum I can't seem to get into the Installation link.

doesnt look like much, just open up the hole with a drill thanks alex, i contacted sparco today, they say the sprint V is the replacement of the jnr, i'll be chasing a pair up soon me thinks

I just put an extra hole in the rail. Easy to do - otherwise it's a bolt-in job.

dont go over bored enlarging holes... you will make them weaker and if you go over bored the rails wont slide over the bolt heads in the slider. i did what sabretooth suggests and drill new holes.

the passenger side one isnt as smooth a modificatoin... you really need to do the extra holes and then slot the holes that hold the rails to the floor.. and then the bolt heads of the bolts that hold the rails to the floor foul on the recess that are pressed into the rail from factory and worse still on the nb8as theres a dowl or locating pin that goes into the floor pan that you will have to remove.... it was ages ago that i put mine in though so you might be able to just slot (enlarge the holes in one direction) and then man handle the seat in.

i ended up making in an adaptor plate to offset the rail on the passenger side out of some steel plate.

The problem I've got now is that the Sparco Sprint V has side mounts as well as bottom mounts, and these additional side mounting points are fouling on the OEM bolt spacers welded to the vertical seatbelt plate on the LHS rail (my NA didn't have this plate as the seatbelt was mounted on the transmission tunnel). Did you guys just mill/grind the two spacers off?

Yep this is a problem with the sprint V's

The previous Sprint had the same problem for me with the NB rails, so I solved that problem with the angle grinder. If you're still in the process of doing this and need a grinder let me know.

Fortunately I just borrowed my dad's grinder and got to work with the help of my mate Luke, here are the results:





I have another headache now though, the rails seem to sit about 10mm too close together so I can't put the seat into the car!!!

For the record the holes I drilled in the back of the OEM rails are perfectly in line with the original holes and are the same size. Do you think maybe the seat could be out?

I did the same mod in my NA and never had a problem like this!
