i carry a 10 litre jerry can to all track days, might start doing the same for longer club runs as well....

probably a good investment for you guys that are planning on giving the putty rd a red hot go...

the plastic jerry cans are cheap as chips from supercheap / autobarn etc

yup, plastic is definitely the way to go..

the steel/metal/whatever metal it is ones contract if they don't get oxygen into them...................... :oops:

If you get some fuel just before the Macca's kickoff and unless you have a fully hectic turbo setup and you're planning on driving it waaaaaaaay over the speed limit then you will easily make it back to civilisation and a servo before you run dry.

I might take this opportunity to remind everyone that all the best parts of the Putty, and a fair chunk of the not so good parts, as well as the awesomely sensational road to Broke and on to Wollombi now have 80kmh speed limits. :evil:

So I'm not sure how fast everyone is intending to drive considering 30kmh over the speed limit = automatic 3 month licence suspension.

Encountered 3 police car on the twisty parts of the Putty Road on Sunday! They seem to be sneakier than ever. Even to the officers wearing plain clothes while on patrol!

Anyway. keep and eye out for an unmarked VZ SS in silver, an unmarked VE in burnt orange and a marked white car.

Perhaps they also need a reminder of the infamous putty MX5 rollover test.

Tight, fast, winding, undulating, dangerous road with cops and lots of accidents...

I better bring my 20L track day fuel tank.....not that my car's going to be ready. :oops:

It's easy to hype up a road,

But I must say, being a mountain man and having some pretty dangerous roads around where I live, Yarramundi, perry's lookdown, bells line, and also driving to mania every day for about a year with galstone gorge.

The Putty Road is IMHO a road that has it all, but if you disrespect it, it will chew you up and spit you the f*&k out as we have seen many times before.

I often drive/drift down yarramundi and think that I am a half decent steerer, but when I hear the Putty mentioned in stead of thinking about how fast I can do it in, I automatically think about how am I going to get through it with minimal damage!

It is a road that has many off camber back to back turns and honestly, I talk it up all the time, everyone knows that, but this road even on a good day, when I consider all the factors, i.e young ego's (including my own), speed, police, other drivers, off camber turns, turns that you think end now when in fact they end later, overtaking, fog/mist, the strain on your car for 400klms of sloid thrashing, cliffs and hills, guard rails, blind corners with other cars doing the same thing coming the other way and of course the sportbikes everywhere, scares the sh*t out of me!

just remember the pictures we have all seen of that holden ute!
This will be a great day as it always is, but this is not a road that I take for granted! Keep a cool head!

Ladies & Gents.

There is way too much chest beating going on here. Unfortunately that’s a recipe for disaster.

I’ve been PMing sliq a bit & I have decided to pull out. He has every right to call me a whimp. But to me, there is far too much at stake. All this chest beating worries me to no end.

For those of you who go. Respect the road & keep your head together. Don’t let ego get the better of you.

Agreed,

After reading my last post again.

STM is correct about this one.

I hate to say it, because I am one of the one's who loves the ego stroke but I will not be going either!
