Yes they do Sliq. However the standard headers have captive nuts to attach the heat shield to. The standard heat shield will not fit the aftermarket extractors.

Ahh, I see
I would be eager to see how you go about installing the heat shield (mounting points etc.)
Thanks for that Danny!

Haha, yeah I was just showing my wife some of the footage and that "pushing of the limit" came on!  .

Would love to see the footage from outside the car. It was the second last lap of the third session.

Cheers,
Danny

I went through the video footage tonight and extracted the lap times from each session....which was on par with what Fra66L was measuring with his GPS get up.

Lakeside is 2.41km in length, so I calculated my average speed for each of the laps....and yes Lakeside is a very fast circuit indeed.

Image

I just missed an average lap speed of 130 km/h by 0.16 km/h on lap 4 of session 7, which was my best lap time of 66.82 sec.

Here's the vid....

Here's some vids from the Club Track Day festivities held at QR Willowbank yesterday.... :D

This shows what happens when you turn into turn 1 too early and consequently apex incorrectly....still kept the boot in of course!

Rather than post up videos of each session I made up a couple of compilations of predominantly sideways action (slow) and the odd good line (slightly faster)

Enjoy!!!...and turn your volume up!!!

Danny

The next stage in the development of OMX-596 got underway today with the substitution of the NA8 5-speed with an NB8B 6-speed  . Accompanying the change-out was the replacement of the standard NA8 clutch flywheel assembly with a "lighter" NB6 item coupled with an Exedy Heavy-duty pressure plate and a standard organic sprung centre friction plate. The starter motor and its engine plate were also replaced with younger NB items (somewhat lighter than an NA item as well).

Here's the "kit" 8) .....after reading a few recommendations I'm going to try the Redline Lightweight Shock-proof Synthetic gear oil.

Close-up of the low km NB6 flywheel....

All the standard NA8 flywheel, clutch and 5-speed gearbox removed awaiting the newer bits...

NB 6-speed engine plate installed...plenty of mud from the last trackday underneath :x

NB8B 6-speed in place, but not torqued....enough for today, will finish it off and test drive tomorrow.

Finished the job off today :D .

Torqued the gearbox up...pain in the proverbial to get to a couple of the bolts  ...fitted the tailshaft and filled the gearbox with lube.

Image

The end result is nothing short of awesome  . Very, very happy with the improvement in performance. 5th is the new 4th!!!

The next stage should be underway in the next few weeks...pending work of course 8) .

Danny

nice work mate how was the header clearance with the new box? I have heard that its not a direct fit for some headers (mine in particular - loch)

Hi James, there was no issue with header to box clearance. Headers need to be removed to remove and refit gearbox...doesn't matter whether its a 5 or 6 speed unit.

Danny

I spy a cad plated bracket, I may have missed some thing, but it looks like you are getting ready for some positive displacement fun!
