Painting cam cover question...

Postby wun911 » Sun Aug 17, 2008 5:18 pm

Car's not goin anywhere atm so painting the cam cover...

What is this thing at the front next to the oil fill cap? can I unbolt it from the cam cover? And can it be put back in working order by a nube? I cant recall seeing this thing on FFG's cam cover??

In the SEs is this thing painted or left alone?

The pipe that runs the length of the cam cover (under the word mazda) can it be removed and put back in working order by a nubes?

that is your variable valve timing gizmo... not sure of its proper name. but yeah, the na8 and nb8a don't have it, only the nb8b onwards.

can't help with your other questions tho, sorry. no idea.

FYI SEs don't have that bit, as they don't have VVC...!
a relic of the Familia Turbo era apparently...

Be careful WUN - all that paint might add quite a bit of extra weight to the car ;)

Why? Are some colours weigh less than others?

i've been tempted to get my cam cover painted a flat colour then paint a design onto it, there's some great examples (and some pretty crap ones too).
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.
