Front Drive side creaking

Postby PUR157 » Sat Aug 02, 2008 12:59 pm

Hi guys,
just over a week or so ago my front drive side of the car has developed (or re developed... this time it sounds like it's staying) a persistent creaking noise... I've had a look around the inter-ma-webs and have narrowed it down to maybe a worn sway bar bush? I will take a better look over the coming weekend
Just wanted to ask if there is anything else it could be?

Sounds like... the screen door from hell creaking on its hinges and it happens when the front driver side both bounds and rebounds

Try greasing the bushes and see if it goes away. Thats the first thing i would do. Or even get someone to push down on the car to induce the squeak while your under the car pin pointing exactly where it is coming from.

Sounds mighty like a swaybar mount to the chassis - look for cracks

I've got that same issue, coming from the rear.
Although I've gotten some new sway bars put in the last 3 weeks.
I think it may be something to do with greasing on the sway bar mounts.

My creakings also developing in the front as well... oh no :(

Kinda creepy sound isn't it?
Just worried that the front will completely bottom out one day or something... for a car like the MX5... Chinese pragmatism has taught me to fear the worst...
what... over 100000kms... over 10 years old... ITS GOING TO KILL ME THEY SAY...

Definitely going under the car with more insight thanks to you guys!
so Thanks!

Ok I've had a closer look just this morning... but the bushes seem fine...
I've had abit of a coolant leak over the past few weeks... could any contamination make the bushes creak?
Will be giving them a grease up when I manage to take them out... what kind of grease do I use?

Check the spring perch on your struts. The rubber ontop of the perch, where the springs sit, may have perished and thus you get metal to metal contact.

Will have to look into that one then... thanks again Andrew!

Umm... on a slightly unrelated topic... (didn't want to create a whole new thread for this...) but does anyone have the link for the installation instructions for the BD rollbar?
