HELP!!! Brakes making an awful noise ?

I have a set of Endless CCA comin' from japan in the next couple weeks.... is there no other way to purchase all the clips, shims etc besides buying the whole oem brake pad+fitting kit ???

So reasonable in fact BD I ordered a set on Tuesday morning before the dollar crashes to far. Around $280 shipped for a full set of OEM pads. A similar price to what Mazda Aus now charges for their reboxed Bendix pads without the fitting kit. And a similar price to what Mazda Aus were charging for the proper OEM front pads alone when they were selling them. Unfortunately the front pads are on back order in the UK though.

You can buy the fitting kit from Moss Motors or the Mazda Dealers on Miatanet but I'm told they aren't a direct fit but can be made to fit with a little bit of creative bending. Have a talk to Caffeinne. He has fitted a set to his car.

My mechanic ordered a set of OEM pads from mazda.
It came with the anti-rattle clips but no "M" wires.
So .... NB8B's don't need the "M" wires ??

Another vote for warped rotor/s...

Did you put the handbrake on after getting into the pits from the track? The area being clamped by the pads keeps heat while the rest of the rotor cools... Not good.

Isn't it the area touching the pad cools quicker than the rest and that warps the disk. The pad would transfer the heat out of the disk through the calliper and uprights since the pads transfer heat better than air.


On track days I tend to also leave the car running with handbrake off, but also push the car forward or back a couple times in the first few minutes because the pads can still be resting on the disk, especially if you dont have the M clips.


If the sound is happening all the time regardless of if you're braking or not then don't you think it could be something else instead? Do the brakes and the car pulsate when you press them and does the noise change dramatically when you brake?

Got it checked out by my mechanic, the problem are warped rear discs .... so what you said is probably true Sasso.
Maybe it was when I came into the pits (handbrake off) but the pads were still resting of the discs, causing the discs to warp
