I use these all the time on my trucks when I fit LED units to the rears. Hella, Narva also produce them.
note: if you fit them and it doesn't work unplug and swap connectors as they have a right way to fit them.
the reason the failed lamp comes on and they flash quickly is that LEDs use approx 5% of power compared to std bulbs.
The biggest drawback apart from cost is the lamps are not clearly visible from side angles.
You can measure the resistance from your old bulbs and buy resistors to the same value, but I think you'll find the above a damn sight easier.
