bpt4w - I already mentioned it would be easier to get a pair of seats that you can live with everyday then to go down modifying the car to fit S-C-I-S-S-O-R doors at such a ridiculous expense. Unless you are looking to attend AutoSalon or something then ignore the following advice:
At the top of my head here here are some seats that will fit, w/o having to be a contortionist to get in and out and also take seat harnesses:
Fixed - Sparco Roadsters
Reclinable - Mazdaspeed Type F, Recaro Sport JJ or SR 11, Bride Gias or Stradia
*Bear in mind that the fitment of a Roll bar/cage, which takes up some cabin space, may effect how far back the seat may slide back or recline. This is not the 'ultimate' list of MX5 seats, just what I have tried personally and what are in friends' MX5s.
There are other seats that will fit but because of higher side & corner seat design, will make it really hard to get in and out.
I have tried Recaros SR3s, Sparco Sprints, EVO, Pro2000, Recaro Milleniums etc. Either I had to lack of space due to my roll cage so I couldn't push the seat back any further or to recline it OR the door wouldn't close w/o removing of the standard NA6CE door handle/rest
Anyway, I hope you make your decision carefully as I believe modifying your doors in order to get in and out of your Sprints is a HUGE undertaking.
