Broken alternator belt
So I've found a contributing factor to the belt breaking, my front pully has a bit of a wobble... Advice sought in this thread viewtopic.php?f=18&t=32405

heh, oh well. once you do that you could just leave the bottom cover off.
make sure to have a new valve cover gasket ready just in case.
could even get a 323 BP valve cover, the ones which had a full plastic timing belt cover that can be left off leaving the camshaft gears exposed all the time.

The gasket should be fine. I've reused the one on my cars several times. Just be careful of the gasket when you take the valve cover off. Make sure you tension the bolts on the valve cover evenly when reinstalling them and preferably (though not critically) in the order shown in the workshop manual.
