URGENT: need a tyre ASAP

Postby AJ » Sun Jul 20, 2008 11:52 am

:( went down to the supermarket in the 5 this morning, & when i came out, I noticed a scuffed patch on the front left tyre.........it looked a bit weird, so I inspected it more closely & found that it was actually torn through to the wire & has deformed the sidewall...the tyre is still inflated ok, but I want to get it replaced ASAP, especially with a track day @ Lakeside coming up..........................

SO, a call out to any forumite who has, or knows someone who has an about half worn Michelin PP1 or PP2 in 205/45/17 they could sell me, I would greatly appreciate it, my only other alternative is to buy 2 new tyres to run on the front :frown:

any help would be greatly appreciated :)

as of yesterday, MX5Plus has one set of NC wheels with good tyres. Not sure what brand they were. He also has at least 2 sets of 17\" wheels (non-MX5 OEM) with good tyres on them. Again, I don't know the brand.

yep, that is an option Andrew, but as most of Richards stuff is imported, I doubt he'd have any Michey's, & if he did, he'd probably prefer to sell them as a set, but thanks for the suggestion mate :)

Worth a call. I assume all tyres are fitted in Japan. The earlier US market cars had precedas and the current ones have Potenzas same as aus market. Why would JDM be different?

oh, don't worry, already left a message on his machine John

also rang Mazda Auto Recyclers.........no luck :(

also onto a place called Coleman Tyres, they specialise in 2nd hand tyres, he seemed confident he could track me one down 8)

& I've been having a think about things too, although Kim accidently hit a pothole on the Brisbane club run the other week, & that is what we've put it down to (suspecting the tyre caught the edge of said pothole), this is also the tyre that has had a really minor slow leak since new (never got around to getting it looked at, just kept topping it up  ), I'm wondering if the tyre has actually had a fault all along that has just started to show externally, if so & it can be proven, Michelin will be getting a call on the tellingbone
