whats in a major service?

Postby RG.net » Wed Jul 16, 2008 11:19 pm

hey guys, kinda noob question here but i was curious ( i have forgotten  ) what is involved in a major service, i know minor is oil filter and new oil what about major?

all i can think of is:
spark plugs
panel filter (n/a)
oil change
oil filter change
coolant top up (if needed)
Brakes bled (???)
power steering top up (if needed)
gearbox fluid change (???)

anything else? i would like start doing this myself, all the mechanics i have had seem to rip me off somehow (not doing some things etc) cheers guys.
also, what spark plugs do you guys use, and at what temp range? how long to copper spark plugs last?

someone is bound to post a link up, but in the meantime, off the top of my head: (this is what I did at 90k anyways)
- all belts
- front crank seal
- CAS O-ring seal
- cam cover gasket
- tighten as many body nuts and bolts that I can get to
- spark plug wires (if needed)
- fuel filter

You may as well replace the water pump while you have the belts off.

recommendation- get a owners glove box manual- a must in my view. Memory is a dodgy thing.
