Aftermarket Exhaust

Postby TieNN89 » Thu Jul 10, 2008 12:05 am

First of all I know nothing about exhausts except noise noise quiet noise

Alright so my car has damage to the Cat and the Muffler which is going to cost my insurance company $2000+ inc labour which I'm hoping I'll get a payout (won't be that much but it will be something)

Now I was wondering if I went aftermarket and got my Cat and Muffler replace what sort of exhaust system would I need and what would you recommend and how much it would cost me
If it adds KW I like :D
I don't want it to be loud as
It has to stay legal

for $2000 you could get a complete system including headers, cat, muffler and silencer if required, with alot of change left over

Is your insurance going to give you $2000 or a percentage of it? (Sorry I dont understand as I've never made a claim)
If you HAVE to spend the full $2k then I would look into importing a wiz-bang system from Apexi or one of those ricey companies.

If you can only spend a few hundred, then talk to the guys down at Lee's Exhaust at Slacks Creek, they can make a custom system from cat to tip for under $400 in mild steel. Great guys, great workmanship.

whats more you could get a full loch stewart system with headers, metal cat, mandrel piping and whatever size muffler you need to keep it quiet. garry stewart is the man you need to speak to. don't have his number but I am sure some people on here would. if not you could get in contact with him via rob bliss exhausts.

1red5, sorry i wasn't sure what i was getting yet

but now i do

I have up to 2k to spend on an aftermarket exhaust system

I spoke to exotic exhaust at sumner park over the phone

They reckon 2 1/4\", big body cat, muffler, headers for around 1100

where abouts is garry stewart located?

re: Cat, make sure it is a high flowing one. Also i would recommend you spend a little more on your headers for a high quality one. They are very important. Overall sounds like an OK price.

The guy said a high flow one isn't really worth it since mines just N/A 1.8L so he said the bigger cat would work

Headers they custom make it so I'm not sure how to figure out whats high quality and whats not
