alarm system probem need help!!

Postby beabea » Tue Jul 01, 2008 12:25 am

Hi all,
I installed an after market alarm system (python model 502) on my nb8a from JB hi-fi half a year ago. Everything was nice and I love using it. Yesterday when i was cleaning and waxing the car, the alarm system triggered and i couldn't stop with my remote control. At last i was able to stop it with the key they provided and switch it off. However, when i start the car today I discovered that the engine is shaking really bad and leak of power (it can only run with 40km/hr). I decided to stop and park it on the street. Do you guys know how to reset this alarm system. Any suggestion will be appreciated.
thx
bea

Did you try and \"Wash\" anything under the bonnet?

If that's the case sounds like water got in the alarm horn and perhaps something else under the bonnet.

Also, please update your profile, if we know where you are we might be able to recommend someone to help you out.
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

Might be worth checking everything under the bonnet is dry, perhaps even use a hair-dryer to dry off any moisture in connections.

beabea you certainly seem to have probs with your car \"shaking\" Last week we heard you were going to Repco and you said a timing belt was on the menu. I reckon you need to go back and get it re checked.

found out the answer!!! I called up repco and have a check. The shake is caused by water getting into the engine while i wash the engine bay. He told me its a common problem to this car. I wont wash under the bonnet again

And a problem with many other cars. Water and electrics don't generally mix.
