fouled guards

Postby tjcool » Mon Jun 30, 2008 3:45 pm

hi everybody ( hi dr nick)

i turned full lock up a steep left hand incline into a street the other day and the tyre edge fouled the top inside lip of my wheel arch

has any one had this happen

my car has quite firm springs and adjustable koni shocks with 17inch rims running 205 / 55 tyres

they have peeled the top edge out the tiniest bit

now if i hit a speed bump or turn up a hill the tyre rubs on the peeled out part

any ideas on how to repair it ?

i was just gonna cover it with a blanket or something & belt it with a rubber mallet.

any better (less caveman-esque) ideas ?

ill post photos later if need be
leave the gun.... take the canoli's

Yep, but to be honest there are only a couple of places it happens, and I am aware of them so just exercise some caution. I chatted to a panel beater about maybe getting the lips rolled in - he advised that often instead they just kind of file them back. I haven't bothered looking into it anymore, it's a 'must do something about that one day' low priority.

I'd leave the hammer in the shed where it belongs unless you're confident.

I too have Konis with 17inch rims but 215s.

I've just bought a guard roller... I'm going to roll em as much as I possibly can, and see if I can pull the guards out a bit too
