I was going to do this but steered away when i found out how much the headlights cost

so i'm getting the nb8a bumper replaced

anyway

I'm told it doesn't all clip into the same place

headlights won't plug straight in as you now have separate high and low beams unlike the nb8a where both are in one

Beauty is in the eye of the beerholder. The NB8A front bar is reason number 1 I didn't buy one. IMO the 8B front bar is miles better looking.

I'm holding beer though.

TravyMX5- your choice of course but it will be a costly exercise if it can be done and that cost will go a long way to changing to a later mod car. I reckon that the MX5 Factory could tell you if it can be done and give you an estimate of cost.

Its a straightforward job. Only the front bar & headlights are different. Elec plugs are easy to rewire and shouldn't take you long to work out.

If you want to use the std NB8B lamps instead of the SE ones they are cheaper and a bit easier to find. Same with the bar. They are identical except the SE one has the extra holes for the lower lip. Buy from Mazda and the SE one is about $160 dearer than the std one..........

new bonnet too

Bonnet and radiator support is the same.

As for what looks best.... its your car, so do what makes YOU happy. 8)

Inner wheel guards are different too and the way the bar attaches at the side is different as well.
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

There's an NB8A running round sydney that has been painted sunburst yellow, and has an NB8B front, including headlights.

If you want to see it, it's usually parked outside Astoris on bourke rd Alexandria during the day...

I talked to the owner once, she bought it as is, all the work had been done by the previous owner and she had no idea it was unusual.
