'pulsating brake peddle'

Postby GP14 » Wed Jun 18, 2008 2:43 pm

Thats the only way i can describe it. When I press on the brake pedal it moves in and out ever so slightly but enough to have some feedback. Do I have warped rotors or other brake problems?

cheers

could be a warped rotor or even a seal problem somewhere in the system? if it gets worse and the car vibrates under heavy braking its probably warped.

if its a warped rotor you can always brake alittle suddly when your on a quite road
leave ur hands off the wheel and if it tends to pull to the left or right its a good indication it \"may\" be a warped rotor.
(obviously other things can cause this too)

thanks guys. I'll be replacing my pads soon so i was considering replacing my front rotors at the same time. I'm thinking slotted/drilled rotors. Which brand do people recommend?

cheers

getting the rotors machined is a hell of a lot cheaper than getting new ones.

but anyway, i've used both dba and rda slotted rotors. both good.

Hmmmm.... did you put back the same pad back on the same side when you took them off the other week?

Yeah i did. Forgot to mention that its been doing it for a while. You didn't notice it when you took it for a spin that day?! Wasn't really bother by it but I guess its not normal to have pulsating brakes.

As for machining, sure its cheaper but upgrading the rotors should give me better braking as i don't intend to go the big brake conversions.

cheers

No I didn't notice anything, so it's not that bad.
I agree with you re: machining vs new rotors.
Even though I'm not due for either pads or rotors, but I'm dying to install my Hawk HPS'ses.

Keep me in mind when you are close to deciding to buy rotors, we may get a few names together to get a discount from wherever.

I would much rather machine them to minimum thickness than buy new ones LOL.

A GB would be nice but they are kinda heavy items to ship around....

Its not so much as just machining to fix the problem but also to improve braking which i've found mine to be average after some spirited driving.
