Need to pick a Blue - 6W or 20P

Postby baldas » Wed Jun 18, 2008 11:14 pm

As some of you may know, I am restoring a NA8A and I have a donor wreck which is a 10AE.

After several months of panel beating, filling and sanding I am ready to respray the car. I have decided to swap all the interior and roof from the 10AE so from the inside to will look like a 10AE - outside NA8A. Changing the mechanicals over will come later.

So the several hundred dollar question is - What Colour? - 6W, Laguna Blue (original NA8A colour) or 20P, Innocent Blue (the 10AE colour).

I've been changing my mind on a daily basis. Both paint colours are the same price - I'll be using acrylic.

So what do you think?

I think the Innocent Blue would look great on the NA8A10AE :D but then if you want stock outside and modified inside paint it Laguna Blue

Richie

Thanks for your conclusive comments :)

Danny

That is a very convincing agruement for 20P - the car looks great.

For those that are concerned with originality keeping an original colour for the model is important- for others anything will do. If you change the original colour of the car you do have to paint unseen areas. If you had a collectable car you may very well limit its appeal and maybe also its value. Will MX5 'sbecome collectors cars- my guess is for sure but maybe not yet.

laguna blue with the 10ae as a pearl? that way you have both colours, and no painting inside the engine bay etc

Red Dragon

Hero Blue - nice but getting a bit far away from what I am after.

Mr Morlock

I'm not sure my NA8A will ever make it to a \"collectable\" but keeping the car the same colour is probably the most sensible way - definitely less work.

MXHEVN

I have no idea what a \"10AE as a pearl\" is - I've only just come to grips with clear over base coat - but sounds interesting

At the moment may Head is saying Laguna Blue, heart is leaning towards Innocent Blue.

When I was at the auto paint shop we were looking at the paint formula and discovered some interesting facts. Innocent blue is a less complex formula than Laguna blue and it has about a third of the metallic component - apparently this would make it slightly easier to spray.

Laguna Blue is streets ahead of Innocent Blue Mica( BORING!) ...that said why not go for the Winning Blue off the NC/RX8 or be really daring and go for the NB8B Laser Blue or the NA 1.6 Mariner Blue! :?:

Ahhh

A quick read and it all becomes clearer - split personality paint - thanks MXHEVN

I think I have the final verdict - the wife likes Laguna Blue - which appears to be the most sensible choice - for even more reasons now.

Thanks for your comments - but I'm a bit disappointed - nobody suggested Red :)
