Knock sensor for MegaSquirt's

Postby Steampunk » Wed Jun 18, 2008 9:42 am

Hi all MS users.

Anyone running a knock sensor? You will all know that KnockSense is the recommended sensor, so would anyone be interested in setting up a group-buy on these?

Otherwise, who has come up with a better solution?

I know Jaycar has a kit.

Yikes! I sent this guy an email just then and he replied within minutes with:

Andrew,

I do not want to sound greedy but my profit margin is so small that I cannot offer quantity discounts at quantities under 25 units. Each unit is individually optimized to the engine bore so please supply the bore size in millimeters. I can ship the next day and it takes about than two weeks for Australia.

I can give you bit of a break on shipping of $12 for any number of units in a single shipment.

Please note the difference between Knocksense and KnocksenseMS. Knocksense is LED knock indicate only while along with LED KnocksenseMS has output for Megasquirt ECU

If yo are interested in KnocksenseMS than:

Let me know the BOARD VERSION and SOFTWARE SOURCE, be it B&G Megasquirt or Megasquirt&Spark Extra that you will be using. Exact software version number does not matter. There is a slight variation in supplied wiring documentation. The hardware (KnocksenseMS) is the same.

Also I need know the approximate cylinder bore. We tune each KnocksenseMS filter so that it better matches the engine. This need not be exact because the filter is deliberately broad in order account for the variance in knock frequency due to dynamic changes in operating conditions.

The knock sensor shielded cable comes with a two pin Bosch connector wired to one end.
LED comes mounted in a bezel and wired to a length of twisted pair.
KnocksenseMS - $65 (comes with Red LED and all the wiring) Knocksense - $50 (comes with Red LED and all the wiring

So you're considering contemplating thinking about whether or not you want one? :P

What's stopping you installing your MS by the way....?

mine is a kit version, not a PNP. i still need to finish off building it (it's mostly done), make up a harness, get a reliable laptop to run the software, reflash the software, get a basic tune set up... etc etc.
it's just taken a backseat as there are so many other things on my car to fix up first, so it's not a priority. at present my DFA is doing an ok job. but soon, yeah, i'll be squirting. i bought the harness thingo just the other day actually, to make a loom so that i don't have to cut the stok harness.
