NA8 diff install. Saturday 14th June, *COMPLETED*

Postby Steampunk » Thu Jun 12, 2008 9:55 pm

Muzza2 and I will be removing a standard NA8 diff and installing a Torsen this Saturday.

I would like to kindly ask anyone who can spare a couple hours of their time, to come and help please :)

It will down at Jimboomba at around 2pm.

I need someone to drive my Festiva, from Sunnybank Hills, as it's doing the diff transportation duties.
If you sweet-talk me good enough, you can drive my MX-5

Please PM me or call/txt 0401 615 700.

Thanks in advance

Andrew

Oh ye of little faith. It took 2 hours flat.

Thank you to Muzza2, Muzza2's dad, GP14 and AZNtien for your help.

Thanks to The Green for turning up and giving us moral support 8)
You should have told me Nici was in the car cause she could've at least had girlie-talk with Muzza's girlfriend.

Had it sideways just a wee bit a few times to confirm it's a Torsen.

Noice.

So far they kick ass, but have been going careful-careful. I like the fact that on 4,000RPM launches you actually move forward rapidly instead of getting bogged down.

I agree with you STM. They came from a lower mileage car so that's a bit of a bonus too.

Technical difficulty: 3/5

Physical difficulty - solo install: 11/5
team install: 3/5

Degree of fiddliness: 4/5

Potential for frustration: 3.5/5
(although gets 10/5 if you are changing drive shafts and the hub bolts are seized).

Potential for dirt to fall in your eye while lying on your back and trying to slot 30kgs of diff onto the mounting bolts: 5/5

Other than that it's not a hard job. I've done 4 installs now - they don't change much.
