What to do with old worn shocks?

Postby wun911 » Fri Jun 13, 2008 8:27 pm

I feel like dumping them in the bin, Im worried its a hazard to someone if the spring comes lose.

Do you have to take the spring out before you dispose of them?

I dont have spring compressors, my idea is to just get coat hangers and just twist them.

Wun, keep them under the house or something or give them to me. I'll have to get Teins rebuilt sometime and that's 4 weeks. As Fatty said there are probably others in the same boat. I'll also pm you with the email address of the Vic club member who was trying to borrow a set this week.

They have 140 k km off an NB8B so I doubt anyone wants to put them in their car.

I got the e mail, Unfortunately I was real frustrated and decided to hack one of the rears angle grinder style while trying to remove it... LOL

The other three shocks are fine. You guys are more than welcome to come and pick them up they are for free.

Out of curiosity how much does it cost to rebuild your coil overs?

I would really like to help this dude out, basically I cut the two bolts that hold the 14mm nut on the top of the shock.

I went out and saw them, I think you can simply replace this 14mm bolt and its all fixed? I guess it would be okay as tempory solution while he gets his shocks re built??
