xcarlink iPod interface - does it work?

i was hoping for your feedback on the following item:

i've done some searching and have gathered this is a slightly sensitive topic amongst some people with theirs either not working or them feeling it is possibly a cheap imitation of the audiolink branded item

can anyone provide any definitve feedback on the item? have they bought one and has it worked?

i was looking into these units also, not sure if its worth it of just to get a full aftermarket ipod compatable unit
